Kaiao is the time just before the sun breaks the horizon to rise for a new day. Being the favorite time to create for my grandma Edith Kanakaole, I named our Design Department within Sig Zane Designs, Kaiao to honor my grandmothers pursuit of inspiration and process of creativity.
As the Design Department for Sig Zane Designs we worked on our first freelance uniform design project with Kaanapali Beach Hotels in 2003. Over the years the projects have varied, some big, some monstrous and some we hope to be huge in the future. Some were shoes, and some were walls, some airplanes and one rubbah slippah.
Through each project one thing remained. A perspective that was born out of the practices and protocol of our culture as well being groomed by an aesthetically inclined Hula Vanguard and a pake Aloha Shirt creator.
Today we are a culturally creative agency that specializes in Identity, Branding, Cultural Consulting, Marketing and well.... Aloha(Shirts).
